New player added to the e-Advantage team

Today marks an important chapter in my life. It is the first day of my marketing internship at e-Advantage Solutions. It is especially important to me as it will be the first time that I am able to put my degree in Business and Management, which I earned from Sussex University last year, to use. Surprisingly, there is very little marketing research involved in washing pots and pans, counting factory inventory, or handing out free beer to wide-eyed campers at Reading Festival (whose eyes would open even wider once they tasted how bad it was). No, this is a proper job, for a proper company, where I hope to gain some proper business experience. Even after only one day I have learned more about running a business than I knew this morning.

I am really interested in the gamification service that e-Advantage Solutions offers, and look forward to learning more about it. I am a keen game player myself; video games have been a part of my life since I was 5 years old, when I got my first games console, the Sega Master System II. Unfortunately I won’t be playing the Xbox One all day (which I may or may not have hoped), but I will be completing a bunch of useful tasks with a clearly defined path, completing challenges and hopefully having fun along the way. I am excited about earning a coin for writing this post! (virtual currency)

Other tasks I will be carrying out during my internship include writing up case studies for the company, preparing a presentation for pitching a new game, and especially important to me I think I will be researching and creating a marketing page for two new industries that the business wants to focus on. I am grateful to Pete, e-Advantage Solutions and the University of Sussex for this opportunity and look forward to the next 10 weeks. That’s not to say I won’t be trying to earn enough coins to spend on a day off!
