Gamification for Innovation & Creativity in the Workspace

We hosted a meetup recently with the aim of discovering what makes a work environment a better catalyst for innovation and creativity.

Our first speaker was Richard Paul from PropellerNet, a Brighton based company known for their unique status as having a Superengaged workforce. After reading the book of the same name we found that one of their annual projects involves sending several members of their team to the Alps! This is a great source of creativity and innovation for their teams, motivating us to get in contact with them.

We were lucky enough to get Richard from the team to come to our event and tell his story. He has been out to the Alps twice with his colleagues now. It was very inspiring. If you'd like to find out more, his slides are available below and you can buy a copy of the book Superengaged by clicking the button accompanying the book cover below.

Our second speaker was Matthew Burgess, a thought leader in work-space innovation and creativity. He shared his 5 theories of what lead to a more creative and innovative work-space. His research is still ongoing, so we are unable to share his slides, but the photos below help paint a picture of the interesting and engaging talk he gave.

The best part about the event?

We've helped to inspire some awesome change! We are currently situated in The Projects in Brighton and the event was attended by the Operations Manager, Beth Lewis.

The managing team of the Projects had a meeting to discuss what Beth had learned and are now in the process of redesigning a large part of our co-working space. You can see the designs they have created below. Don't they look fantastic?

Did you know we have another event coming up this Thursday, facilitated by Gamification+ CEO Pete Jenkins?

It's called 'Design your own Gamification: Fostering Teamwork'.

We are going to be playing a team-based game and work out the features which improve teamwork. Then we'll design our own gamification which you can take away and implement in your teams the next day.

The event is from 6:00-8:30pm on Thursday 21st.

The locations is The Projects, 8-9 Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AD .
