Conquer real gamification challenges and boost long term engagement

Gamification is such a broad topic that when you are starting work on your own project it is difficult to know where to begin. What approach should you take to ensure success? How do you know you're not wasting time on the wrong game elements and design for your target audience?

It can feel frustrating, even risky, to be unsure of where to put your efforts in a new gamification project. Do you know if the business objective is even suitable for gamifying?

Do you understand your target users and the types of games they enjoy? Will they like to compete or to collaborate? Do they prefer playing alone rather than playing in teams?

Do you know how to discover whether a digital game or a physical game is going to be most effective use of your resources?

Who would be best to design and build your game? Should you build it yourself, build an internal team or outsource it? What are the pros and cons of these?

Once launched do you know how you are going to keep players engaged for the long term? How will you spot issues and fix them? What will you measure to know if you've been successful?

It can seem like there's an insurmountable number of obstacles in front of you as you set off on your gamification journey.

The beauty of our programme is that, as well as training and mentoring in the art of gamification, you benefit from the knowledge and expertise of other members as they work on and solve their own real gamification project challenges along with you.

Gameful Leadership Guild

The Gameful Leadership Guild is a group of people leading gamification projects. In a confidential space you learn from and support each other. The strength of the each group (6-8 people) within the Guild comes from the ability to tap into expertise existing within it. The unique blend of challenge and support from your peers creates an environment of continuous learning. Every group meeting focuses on real project challenges. It is the perfect solution to knowing how to not waste time and effort on the wrong game design and how to keep your players engaged for long term gamification success. The Guild is designed as a year long programme where we meet for 3 hours online every other week.

Here’s What You’ll Get When You Sign Up

Once you've signed up and joined the Guild, Pete will be in touch to discover more about your gamification project and background and discuss which group you will best fit into. Then we'll book the group meetings into your diary and introduce you to your new group members. Early on you'll get a chance to talk in depth about your project to the group and receive insightful questions and advice to kickstart your gamification journey!

6 hours a month of facilitated learning and accountability

The GLG is run as an action learning set, this means that the group dives deep into your challenges and generates lots of potential solutions and lines of inquiry. You then choose the ideas that resonate most with your needs at the moment and commit to progressing these and reporting back on any issues or successes with these to the group. This translates to rapid progress in your project!

Feedback and ideas from practitioners in diverse industries across the globe

"The other members of the groups came from very different backgrounds, and were looking to solve very different problems in very different spaces, which meant that we were able to assimilate a broad and deep understanding of the applications and theories of gamification. I'd recommend this to anybody in the world who is exploring new ways to solve a (basically any) problem in a novel and engaging way!" said Phil Sampson, Product Manager at Helipaddy Ltd.

Contacts and expertise of Pete Baikins

With years of experience in delivering gamification projects globally, as well as mentoring and teaching countless practitioners and students Pete is likely to have some expertise that will benefit you. Failing that, as founder and organiser of the Gamification Europe conference and Gamification Awards he is likely to be able to put you together with just the expert or platform you require anyway.

A whole support team for your project

It can be lonely leading your gamification project. Your group will provide you emotional support as well as practical support and ideas. Phil Sampson, Product Manager at Helipaddy Ltd said: "I absolutely loved the six months I spent in the GLG because I truly felt like part of a family, built on support, intrigue and understanding."

Here’s what people are saying about the guild

The guild has been running since early 2020 and our first batch of guild members have plenty of positive things to say about being part of it:

Career best learning experience

The Gameful Leadership Guild has been one of the best learning experiences of my career. It has been a pleasure focusing on real project challenges with a group of such intelligent and engaged professionals across different industries.

Understanding more about gamification strategies, scrutinising projects as a team, and sharing expertise within the group has really helped the British Heart Foundation to develop their remote cardiac rehabilitation product.

Good Boost

FOMO, new ideas & funding

The GLG has transformed how Good Boost uses gamification to increase user uptake and long-term engagement in our digital rehabilitation programme.

Being part of the GLG has provided Good Boost with gamification solutions to create digital physical rehabilitation software that users want to use rather being told to use them for their health.

The GLG has supported Good Boost to create new gamification concepts for user engagement and retention in digital health apps that have now been awarded grant funding to develop and deploy these ideas in our software.

I look forward to every session for new ideas, laughs and learning, missing a week of GLG is just like missing a catch-up with friends, complete FOMO, that's how good it is!

Insightful and massive impact

Extremely insightful being part of a community able to find and share information on what other people are experiencing and what kind of approaches people are taking to gamification.

The GLG makes a massive impact on the type of projects that I'm involved with. I think having a whole team of very expert people in their field to be able to share their experiences and and learning is invaluable.

Actually being able to dive down into a particular area and explain what that means in context really helps to flesh out the idea and see if it holds that same meaning and value and emotion across the board.

Mohamed Hossary

Obsessed with gamification

Pete opened our eyes to the potential of human centered design, specifically gamification, in all aspects of business and development. Following his engagement with us the company literally became obsessed with gamification and started introducing it in many aspects of business. We started with offline games for onboarding staff and improving cash collection. Recently we launched a mobile gamified project management application.

It is mind blowing to see how introducing simple game mechanics not only improves our culture and employee engagement, but also increases efficiency and effectiveness. I wish people start realizing the real value of gamification, as it might be one of our most powerful tools in the modern day.

Joining the GLG is Immensely Valuable

The monthly cost of an industry leading gamification consultant is, conservatively,
£4,000 per month. The average length of a gamification project's design, development and production period is around 4-6 months, so up to £24,000. You probably want some help and oversight after the project is launched too...

By joining the Gameful Leadership Guild you don't just get access to one expert, but also direct access to a group of, and growing community of, hands on experienced practitioners. Priceless perhaps? All this support for a year comes for less than the cost of hiring a consultant for one month.

John P. Kelly

Chief Executive Officer
Zero Up Entertainment, Inc.

A lot of fun, and a must!

I originally joined the Gameful Leadership Guild to help me learn how to develop my business through the use of gamification techniques. The Guild has allowed me to do this – and so much more. The diverse range of skills and experience within the group mean we can help each other in so many ways. The small group means we understand each other’s business and contribute meaningfully to each project – having a lot of fun at the same time.

A must for anyone considering employing gamification techniques within their business.

A revelation in how to improve yourself and your product

I think the best part about the gamification leadership guild is the array of talent, knowledge and experience that the individuals involved bring to the table from different facets of life, that brings a unique feel of mergence into one entity during the sessions.

For someone such as myself who is relatively new in building their career it has been nothing short of a revelation, in terms how to think critically and take every individual's perspective respectfully to improve yourself, the company, your product and the projects you are working on.

I would not hesitate in recommending anyone to join the Gamification leadership Guild. It is a super friendly environment with highly intelligent individuals who can give great ideas, advice and help increase your own levels of creativity.

Action packed opportunities to level-up you and your business

I joined the Gameful Leadership Guild, after attending a Gamification webinar by Pete Jenkins. It has been a year of brainstorming and having fun, while developing business ideas, as well as ourselves on a personal and professional level. I have found incredible support and mentoring within the project group, especially during tough times due to the pandemic.

I highly recommend it, for the incredible action and knowledge packed journey it will take you on, for the amazing people you will meet along the way, and for the opportunities to level-up your business and yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to present to the group?

You don't have to 'present'. At an early meeting each member is asked to talk for 10 minutes about their business and project objectives, plans and any issues they want help with. Some people just talk, others prefer to share some slides or share their screen and show the current state of their project or app. Whatever you prefer is fine. No one ever has any issue filling the 10 minutes, it flies by!

Can I speak confidentially about my business?

You only get the best, accurate and relevant feedback and advice if you can talk about your challenges in full. For this reason every member of the group signs a confidentiality agreement and we can relax and discuss any issue without fear.

Do I have to attend every meeting?

The full benefit of the course is obtained by attending every meeting. that said life and business sometimes gets in the way and with enough notice we cope. Each session is recorded and if you miss a session you are expected to watch the recording in your own time and provide any feedback directly to the other members or at the next session. In practice people hate to miss a session and most members attend every time.
