We are thrilled to announce that Jason Meads, founder of Subsee and our very first client in Jersey, has just had his TEDx Talk published! This is a proud moment for Jason and the entire Subsee team, and we are delighted to have played a part in their journey toward a greater purpose: protecting our oceans.
Subsee’s Mission: From Exploitation to Stewardship
Subsee is an AI-driven platform dedicated to ocean conservation. Their mission is ambitious and inspiring: to shift humanity from exploitation to stewardship by deploying thousands of intelligent Ocean Agents to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030. These Ocean Agents are autonomous software guardians assigned to specific ocean zones, such as Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) or Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs). They analyse threats, plan enforcement, and execute protection actions in real time, drawing on deep knowledge of marine science, regulation, and stakeholder goals.
Subsee empowers ocean entities to gather, process, and act on data to prevent harm, codifying best practices and harnessing resources for effective ocean protection.

Jason’s TEDx Talk is a powerful reminder of the vital role the ocean plays in sustaining life on Earth—and the urgent need for us to protect it. He reminds us:
“We live on a water planet. 73% of the surface of our planet is the sea… and in every real sense, the sea is the planet.”
Jason highlights the many ways the ocean supports us—from providing oxygen and food to absorbing excess heat from climate change. But he doesn’t shy away from the challenges, describing a “pyramid of catastrophe” that includes overfishing, pollution, and climate change. He warns of the dangers of deep-sea mining, the spread of microplastics and nanoplastics, and the looming public health crisis these pose.
He also addresses the failure of governance and the need for a new approach, one that leverages technology for good:
“We must redouble our efforts to use AI for good.”
Jason’s vision is not just about technology, but about respect and responsibility.
“I give you life and all I ask in return is respect. Don’t poison me. Don’t steal from me. If my heart stops beating, so will yours.”
